Economic notes: The Pitch Lake, on Trinidad's southwestern coast, is the world's largest natural reservoir of asphalt. Trinidad  is the Caribbean's largest oil (141,500 barrels per day in 2002) and natural gas producing country.

Tobago - Sq. Km: 300  (116 square miles)
Total Population: 1,297,000
Ethnic groups: black 39.5%, East Indian (a local term - primarily immigrants from northern India) 40.3%, mixed 18.4%, white 0.6%, Chinese and other 1.2%
Capital: Port of Spain
President:  President George Maxwell Richards (since 17 March 2003)   Previous President: Arthur Napoleon Raymond Robinson (1997) NAR.
Prime Minister:  Patrick Manning (since 24 December 2001).  The government is formed by the PNM.
